Okotoks is a town with a growing population of 17,145 located in Alberta, Canada. It is situated on the Sheep River and recently celebrated its centennial in 2004. Okotoks has the first solar powered subdivision in North America, the Drake Landing Solar Community. It is also conveniently located 18 kilometers south of Calgary making it an easy commute for work. The town''s name comes from the Blackfoot First Nation word for “Big Rock.” The name refers to a famous massive rock located approximately 8 kilometers west of Okotoks.
